Programs
Kinect has provided strong leadership over many years in the development of a wide range of key strategies for the promotion of active living at state and national levels. The following is a brief summary of key recent and current initiatives.
General Practice and Referral
Kinect Australia pioneered work in Australia to engage and support General Practitioners in the promotion of physical activity. It instigated and managed the development of the 'Active Script' initiative funded by Victorian and Commonwealth governments over a five year period developing patient assessment tools, GP training programs and referral pathways.
Kinect has also been instrumental in the formation of the Australian Government's 'Lifescripts' initiative which encourages and supports GPs to assist patients in the areas of physical activity, nutrition, alcohol consumption, smoking and obesity. Kinect led an expert consortium in the development of all the resources and tools for GPs underpinning the national roll-out of Lifescripts and has assisted in the development of an electronic software module supporting these resources.
Kinect is continuing to work to build effective referral processes between GPs, allied health professionals and the Go for your life Infoline and health coaching program as well as with community and industry programs and services. Read more
