Kinect Australia's Active Living Programs
Kinect Australia has provided strong leadership over many years in the development of a wide range of key strategies for the promotion of active living at state and national levels.
Walktober
Walktober is a whole month dedicated to walking and there are activities happening right across Victoria and interstate which include everyone from babies in prams to seniors as well as workplace and community challenges. The campaign aims to raise the profile of walking and highlight the broader community and social benefits.
WalkSmart/CycleSmart
The WalkSmart/ CycleSmart program is part of the Victorian Department of Transport's TravelSmart initiative which aims to reduce dependence on cars and promote sustainable alternatives such as walking, cycling and the use of public transport. Kinect Australia has been contracted by the Department of Transport to manage and further develop the WalkSmart/ CycleSmart program.
Active West: Active Transport
Kinect Australia is working with Victoria University, the Western Bulldogs AFL Club, the City of Maribyrnong and the Victorian Department of Transport to promote active travel in Melbourne's West. Stage 1 of the Active West: Active Transport project provided initial research into aspects influencing choices of active transport for Victoria University students and the broader community in the west of Melbourne.
Healthy Active
Kinect Australia and Andrology Australia (Monash University) developed a worksite-based physical activity and health program within 2 local governments, funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing. The aim of this program was to assist employees to become more physically active and to better understand the links between physical activity and health.
Walk Bendigo
Kinect is supporting the City of Bendigo in the development of shared space project in the city centre.
