Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Q. I completed Certificate III when the NFITP was first introduced in 2003. I have now decided to pursue my career in the fitness industry and wish to register with Kinect Australia? What do I need to do?

A. The NFITP was introduced in 2002 / 2003. During the last six years the Package was reviewed and upgraded in 2004 and 2006, and it is currently being reviewed again. The competencies and units contained in the package are now vastly different to those that you undertook within SRF01. Unfortunately as you did not register at the time it will be necessary for you to upgrade your qualifications to the current package before you will be eligible for direct registration with Kinect Australia.

Q. I hold a current Level 2 First Aid Certificate, why is it necessary to undertake an annual CPR qualification?

A. It is a requirement of registration that all components of a First Aid qualification are current. First aid providers also advise that CPR qualifications must be completed annually. Click here to download a comprehensive list of First Aid Providers

Alternatively call us and we will send the form to you. We need to see your Certificate IV in Fitness, Statement of Attainment, current Level 2 First Aid (or equivalent) and CPR qualifications, together with the nominal fee of $25. Q. When I need to re register, why do I have to show evidence of attendance at workshops and provide PDP's?A. The registration system is based on registrants maintaining their competencies. Completing a qualification is the start of a fitness professional's learning. Research is constantly undertaken within various areas of fitness, the "how to" and the "why". Fitness professionals need to maintain their standards and their competencies to ensure that they are delivering quality programs to the general public, and with the most up to date information. Kinect Australia does not wish to make this process onerous and that is why we endeavour to accredit a vast array of workshop and /courses which can be undertaken face to face, on-line or by correspondence.

Q. I have my Certificate III & IV in Fitness and I am registered for Gym Instructor & Personal Trainer. What do I need to do in order to be eligible for the other categories of registration?

A. Certificate III in Fitness gives you Fitness Instructor category with Gym Instructor as the sub category. Certificate IV gives you Fitness Trainer Category with Personal Trainer as the sub category. All other sub categories are attained through specialisation modules/units of the NFITP - the qualifications Certificate IIII and or IV in Fitness.

Click here to visit the RTO page.

You will need to determine if the Training Provider offer the unit a) outside the delivery of the qualification and b) whether they deliver the particular module you wish to undertake. The module/unit codes are as follows:

Q. a) How do I know where to go for PDPs?

A. Upon request, we will provide you with a list of workshops and courses accredited with Kinect Australia in various areas relating to fitness industry training. From there, it is simply a matter of knowing your area of interest and your schedule. It is best to contact different providers to determine more information about the program they are offering and which one will suit your needs - then just go ahead with the booking.

b) What happens if they are recognised as CECs?

Rest assured we provide point recognition for all relevant programs that attract CECs. In other words, the professional development you have undertaken by attending a program which has received CEC's will be acknowledged. Kinect Australia endeavours to provide PDP recognition for all relevant programs that attract CEC's. Approximate relative value for CECs and PDP's are:

1 PDP  =  1-3 CECs
2 PDPs = 4-8 CECs
3 PDPs = 9-15 CECs
